On the Street Where You Live

One thing I love about living in a downtown area is being able to walk places! There are a lot of things I don't like about where we live (neighbors' tacky statuary, neighbors' dogs, no yard, etc.) but I do like having things close by. You can just about see our eye doctor's office from the house, the library is only a 1/2 mile away, and downtown stores and restaurants are about a mile. This morning we walked to the dentist's office -- Kaity and I both had appointments. There's always so much to look at that we're normally speeding past. Every few steps one of the kids would say, "Wow, look at that, Mommy!" or "Ooh, did you see that?" They always collect nature treasures along the way.

While at the dentist's office, (which didn't take long because my daughter has only three teeth) Kaity got a toy and a (sugar-free) lollipop. Joe did not get anything because he had been disobedient. On the walk home, though, Kaity told him that he got something even better than a toy and candy -- he got something God had made. A beautiful maple leaf! How precious!
