You Can't Make This Stuff Up

Whenever we eat fast food, I usually give Jeff the last of my burger/chicken sandwich. It's mostly bread, anyway, and that's his favorite part. Last night I had more left over than usual, but I was full, so I handed it over to my sweetie pie.

Him: "Aw, that's how I know you love me. You left bacon on it!"

Me: "Eh, I missed it. That was an accident."

Him, grinning: "See, I don't believe that for a minute - that YOU missed bacon."

Well, maybe I DO love him.

******

There's a Gary Larson Far Side comic that depicts a little kid hiding under the covers using a "monster snorkle" - so no body parts have to be exposed to possible monster attack. Jeff laughed and said, "That was so you as a kid!" I agreed and added, "Yes, I slept with my head under the covers for a long time, but now that I'm married and have a husband ... I don't DARE put my head under the covers!"

*Insert evil laughter from Jeff here*

At Dawn, We Ride!

Just kidding about the dawn part. Jeff and the kids love to ride their bikes in the evening, though. I would ride with them, except that I don't have a bike, and someone has to stay with Selah, anyway. We've been so glad that Kaity and Joe like to ride, and are good enough at it that Jeff can take them on longer trips around town now.

Selah says, "Wait  up, guys! You forgot about me!"

"At dawn, we RIDE!"

Joe's Toes

Sunday night at church, our Joe was being chivalrous by opening the door for his mommy. Unfortunately, he was wearing flip-flops instead of chain mail and pulled the door back on his toe. It was fairly traumatic for him! We got it bandaged up, and the consensus of several adults around us who saw it was that he'd probably lose his toenail. It was pretty gross. Anyway, I've kept it bandaged really well, changing it every morning and the process has fascinated Selah. Yesterday morning she wanted to have her toe done, too! "My toe hurts! I want a "baing" (Band-Aid), Mommy!"

If you look *really* closely, you can see a bit of paper tape wrapped around Selah's right big toe.

Today she wanted a Band-Aid for her baby, too.

"Wie Spät Ist Es?"

You may remember our Nerd Clock that I made from a clock we already had. I had always planned to be able to redo the numbers with something else at some point, and a couple of weeks ago, I finally did! We loved the Nerd Clock, but it's fun to be able to change it out now and then. I simply erased the numbers with a damp paper towel, and ...
... wrote the clock numbers out in German! "Es ist elf Uhr."

And here's a bonus picture of Selah being cute in a basket - coincidentally, one that my mom brought back to us from Germany!

Next Week, College!

Kaity has been quite the traveler already this summer!A couple of weeks ago, she went to stay with my parents for a few days, and she had a ball. She and Grammie did lots of fun projects, one of which was sewing a circle skirt. Today she's going to a movie and lunch out with friends. She wanted to wear her skirt but the shirts that match it were all dirty. The only thing she had that coordinated was a spaghetti-strap tank top that she can't wear by itself. Sighing, I resigned myself to the inevitable ... and raided my closet for something she could borrow. Ah, the dawn of a new era!

Posing for the camera! The sweater is what Kaity borrowed from me; the skirt is the one she made with Grammie.
After snapping a few pictures of Kaity I lowered the camera and spotted a deer coming across the yard! I quickly took a couple of shots. With the camera, of course.

Here's {the link} for the circle skirt!
