Our friends Katie and Kris drove Kaity and Joe home from VBS tonight. When they arrived, Katie and Kris couldn't wait to relate a funny story that had happened on the way ...
Joe: What does 'potent' mean?
Kaity: It means strong or powerful.
Joe: Mmm ... I'm both of that.
And here is a picture of the sweet pillow that Joe made tonight in VBS. He said, "It's me and Kaity!"
"Give them wisdom and devotion in the ordering of their common life, that each may be to the other a strength in need, a counselor in perplexity, a comfort in sorrow, and a companion in joy." -- The Book of Common Prayer

Scrambled Eggs
I know this is kind of crazy, but I had to tell y'all about scrambled eggs this morning. I am not one to look for thrills in my scrambled eggs. My only requirement is that they aren't slimy. But I decided to get a little creative with them last night when I made breakfast for supper and I am so glad I did! I made more for my breakfast this morning.
First, start a small skillet going over medium heat with a pat of butter. In a bowl, crack two eggs and add in a dollop of sour cream, a splash of milk, a dash of salt and a couple of shakes of coarse ground black pepper. Cut a couple small sprigs of parsley from your herb garden on the front porch, wash them, then snip them into the eggs. Whisk all that together until smooth. Pour into the hot skillet. Cook for 2 minutes. Stir. Toss in a pile of shredded cheddar cheese. Cook and stir for another 2 minutes, or until the eggs are cooked to your taste. And you're done!
For those who need actual measurements ...
1 tablespoon butter
2 eggs
1 tablespoon sour cream
1 tablespoon milk
salt and pepper to taste
2 small sprigs parsley (this is optional, but if you have it on hand you really should use it!)
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
You can also add in cooked crumbled bacon or diced ham along with the cheese. That's how I made them this morning.

Dress Garland
I got the idea to make a garland of dresses to hang in the girls' room from a crafty little blog several weeks ago. I decided to save it for a summer project, and Kaity and I made it last week. It was a lot of fun!
I cut out a template of a girl's dress, then made another one that was larger. The idea being that one represents Kaity and one Selah.
This is one that Kaity designed ...
The dresses were made with regular scrapbooking paper we picked up at a craft store.

Daddy Date
Jeff took Kaity out on a date last Friday night. It was so sweet! They went for Japanese in Athens and then out to Barnes and Noble. Kaity had a really good time, and she's feeling quite spoiled with two dates in one week! Bobba and Grandma Fran took her out to Ryan's last week. Grammie got her a new dress for the occasion and everything.

Pool Party
On Wednesday, the kids and I drove up to South Carolina to visit with Mom and Berk at Fran's condo. While the children were very excited to see their grandparents, the pool was definitely the main attraction. They wore themselves and Baba out! Sadly, Jeff had to work, but I talked to him a lot on the phone to make up for it. :)

Playing Catch Up
I've taken lots of random cute pictures of the family lately, and just haven't posted them. Mostly, they're not enough to make individual posts so I've been saving them.
Jeff took me out to dinner in downtown Athens for my birthday. I'd been wanting to go to La Dolce Vita for a long time! I've gone for lunch, but their dinner menu sounded so good I knew I had to give it a try. Oh, it was incredible! But definitely a birthday/anniversary kind of date. The kids stayed the night with Jeff's parents and our friend Pam came to take care of Selah. I was nervous leaving Selah for so long for the first time! Pam did a great job though, as usual, and Jeff and I had a wonderful time.
Wrestling with Daddy on the floor ... Well, they're playing "SuperBaby". Selah loves it and the kids wanted in on the action. :)
Isn't he handsome? He reminds me of Calvin in Calvin & Hobbes when the parents would slick him up for class picture or something.
And she's achieved mobility! Selah rolled over for the first time Friday night. I went to get her from her crib Saturday morning and she was on her back staring up at me instead of swimming around on her belly like she usually does. In this picture I was trying to catch her in the act, but she waited until the batteries in the camera died before she rolled over.
Our friend Rick made this rattle for Selah ...
Jeff was busy transposing music and Selah kept distracting him with her coy little smiles.
