Leavin' On A Jet Plane

But I do know when I'll be back again -- July 10th! I am going for the third time to Central Asia on a mission trip. I'm incredibly excited to have the opportunity to make the trip again. There are seven of us going this time -- three of the college and career people, and one of my very best friends, Chrissy, will be going, too! We've been preparing for the trip for some time now and I can't believe it's time to go.

Please pray for us as we go, that we will have the boldness to share Christ, the wisdom to wait when we need to, and for safety in travel. The children will divide the time between Jeff's parents and mine, and July 4th weekend with Daddy. Joe already told me he didn't want me to go. :(

I'll be sure to tell you all about it when I get back!

Lily Potter

Okay, so we're suckers. Jeff brought home a kitten today. I heard him come in and say, "Jeni, I'm sorry, I just couldn't help it." Curious I went in the living room and saw him cuddling this adorable kitten. She's one of the "quarry cats". The mom had kittens several weeks ago and the brother and sister have been taken home by one of Jeff's coworkers. He's such a softie for homeless animals.

Anyway, we've named her Lily Potter and we'll call her Lily. Big sister Daisy is not thrilled.

Just Keep Swimming

Last year we went swimming a grand total of once. This year we've been in the pool several times, with plans to head for the beach later this summer! Last weekend we went up to Lexington, SC to spend the weekend (Friday-Saturday) at Berk's mom's condo there. Fran has a beautiful place in a new development on Lake Murray. We actually never even went to the lake on this trip, but spent plenty of time in the pool. Just the kids and I went because on Thursday at 4:00 in the afternoon Jeff got word he had to work on Friday. But that's the way it works sometimes, and we still have the beach to look forward to!

Like with the zoo trip, I have lots of great pictures. It's hard narrowing it down!

Baba and the kids.

Me, alligator wrestling.

There was a big pirate ship playground in the backyard of the condo. That was a huge hit for the kids.

Friday night we ordered pizza and the kids crashed on the sofa bed watching a video. They were completely worn out -- and so were Grammie and Baba!

Fran's condo is the yellow one straight ahead. Her place is on the top floor, which makes for a lot of stairs, but a great view!

Stuart came on Friday with my nephew Ralston and their young friend James. Virginia had to work. She came on Saturday with the boys while Stu was at work. Here's a great picture of her with Rali. Stuart and Ginny are expecting another son to arrive some time in September.

Oh, That Boy!

Joe was disobedient this morning -- not an unusual occurrence I assure you. I sent him to my room and we sat on the edge of the bed to "talk about God". (That's Joe's traditional stalling tactic -- "Tell me about God!") I told him briefly of God's command of obedience and how we must both be obedient to Him. Then came the physical discipline. I let him know he'd be getting three swats. He perked up at that and said, "That's how old I am!" He pondered a moment, looked at me from the corners of his eyes and then remarked, "If I was two, I would only get two swats and that wouldn't hurt as much."

Bless his little heart! He's too charming for his own good. (He still got three swats, though, don't worry!)

Busy Summer Days

Well, I certainly haven't been neglecting to post because we haven't been doing anything! I've just been going 90 miles an hour and haven't taken the time to blog about it. And yes, "blog" is a noun and a verb in my vocabulary! Anyway, just a few pictures and stories for you today:

We haven't really had air conditioning since we moved into this house two years ago. We knew the unit wasn't functioning properly, but we just now got around to fixing it. It's been so hot that Daisy resorted to curling up in the cool porcelain of the sink.

Daddy reading a bedtime story.

Last week, we went twice to friends' houses to swim. These are pictures from the second venture.

Kaity knows how to swim but still isn't confident enough to venture far without floats.

Joe, surprisingly, is a bit fearful of the water. He loves a bath, and he loves playing in the shallow end of the pool. The problem is when Jeff or I take him deeper. He clings to us like a barnacle!
